Vegas Baby, Vegas!

Last June my brother got married in Vegas. For a wedding gift, they wanted a painting of themselves from me, so last summer I started the painting but it never looked the way I had wanted. Last week I was working on it again and I realized that I didn't like it, that it could be so much better, and being that it is a wedding gift for my brother I decided to toss the first painting. Not only am I starting all over, I am taking it in another direction using different photo reference and lighting, this should make for a more interesting painting. Here's my sketch, there's still little things here and there that I am working out, but this is the basic idea.

Marco, Thanks man . . . my brother understands that I'm painting in between jobs. I started over, because I want it to be something that I'll be happy with as well.

Grigor, oils my man, all the way! I'm going to try and and start today. Monday's are crazy for me, because I teach art at a small private school, 16 kids, 7th through 12th grade. My day is divided in half. I'll try and post as I work on it.

Jason,

Well the gift is not late, by the rules you have one year after the marriage to give the wedding gift !

Question, Jason, I would think it difficult to do a "portrait" of some predictables-like you would have to tighten up more than you can with strong character studies which you have done-do you find it hard to incorporate?

I look at your work daily and enjoy it so. Who would you most like to present with a portrait you have done of them?

...great work once again.

Thank you Oscar, glad you liked the Kiefer!

Judy, I'm not sure if I quite understand what your first question is? As for your second question, I don't really know, I've never thought about that before? You know, it might be Clint Eastwood, I really love his movies, the ones that he's directed. Or maybe Peter Jackson, I don't know?

maybe its just my false sense of composition but i would let the sign be more cut off by the two figures, using its graphic nature to frame the two. and its such an iconic symbol u dont' need it to say anything verbatim
